A Tour to visit Maremma

From Capalbio, towards the hinterland through SS 74 you can visit cities like Marsiliana where you can find Orsini’s Castle.

Going on visiting Manciano, a small village which is famous because it is dominated by a fortress. In here you can also visit the Prehistorical and Early History Museum in Fiora’s Valley.

Saturnia where you can visit the Roman Thermal Baths very busy and renowned, or Montemerano and Saint George Church famous for the frescoes and the artworks from primitives from Siena: Vecchietta and Sano di Pietro.

Going on through Pitigliano, a beautiful village excavated in the tuff. Recently, part of the Jewish ghetto area has been recovered - a “small Gerusalem”- full of religious artworks and Etruscan archaeological finds placed in The Diocesan Museum.

Close by, you will find Sovana the Etruscan village, then Roman and Medieval where Pope Gregory VII was born. The village is famous for the monumental graves, for the streets excavates in the tuff and for the beautiful Cathedral. Sorano is also a Medieval village also famous for the thermal baths.

An alternative itinerary could be the one close to Viterbo’s province with Vulci and his Devil Castle and the Etruscan village and Francois’ grave. You can also find the new thermal baths, Bolsena Lake, and the small cities around like Montefiascone, Bolsena, Marta and Capodimonte.

You can also opt for a tour on the coast starting from Orbetello and the nice historical center and the shopping area, going on with Monte Argentario and Porto Ercole. From here you can have access to the ferry to go to the wonderful Giglio’s Island.

Going on towards North you can visit the beautiful Talamone, the nice seafaring village with his amazing harbor or you can go on visiting Alberese a lovely village in the Regional Maremma’s Park.
